Balasahiti Prakashan, the publishing arm of Balagokulam, has been operating in Kerala since 1983. Balasahithiprakasan has confidently taken up the task of bringing reading, knowledge and culture to children and families in this era where the reading habits of children are declining woefully.

On Thujan Day, the Gnanayajna program, where groups of children interact with homes with good books, was a new experience for the reading world. Kavi Kunjunni Mash was noticed to be in contact with books in a satchel.

NK Chandrasekharan, KN Ashokan, V Raghukumar, P Sreekumar and KN Sajikumar were in charge of the publication in the early days. A special committee was formed with poet Ramesan Nair as chairman and more books were released. Currently, the committee is chaired by N Harindran Mash and U Prabhakaran as secretary.

In memory of Kunjunni Mash, the first patron of Balagokulam and mother tongue worshiper, the award given to those working for children since 2007 is a notable award in cultural Kerala. Sumangala(2007), Sippy Pallipuram(2008), Pattail Prabhakaran(2009), Sukumaran Periachur(2010), Balan Putheri(2011), Raju Narayana Swamy(2012), PI Sankaranarayanan(2013), B Sandhya(2014), Dr. , Venu Khudaikkal(215), PK Gopi(2016), Dr. Koomulli Sivaraman(2017), PR Nathan(2018), Beena Govinda(2019), Sreedharanunni(2020), Dr. Gopi Pudukode (2021) and Gopinath Mutukad (2022) have won the Kunjunni award.
